How has lighting impacted workplace design and employee well-being? Amit Aurora (AA): Lighting greatly affects the physical and psychological well-being of the employees in a workspace. While dynamic daylighting is good for health and enhances productivity, static lighting causes stress and negatively impacts the user’s health. It is always better to use daylight optimally and reduce the use of artificial lights during the day.
DCA office, spread over 5000 sq.ft, was to be daylit as far as possible and needed to provide a naturally ventilated and flexible workspace for a growing team of design professionals. The executed design successfully employs a complex layering of spatial hierarchies that caters to the flexibility essential for a growing design services firm.
Anuj Dhir (AD): Workspaces today are witnessing the third-millennium revolution. Work itself has transformed with so many of us spending most of our working hours indoors. Hybrid workplaces are emerging as the next big thing globally – including in India. Employees today visit the office not only for work but also for having experiences, interactions, and collaboration. This new need from the employees is reflected in today’s workspace design and architecture. The need for agile and empowering workspaces is imperative now than ever. Hybrid workspaces today are ideal for fluid interactions and spontaneous conversations interwoven with functional zones. Creative thinking can begin in one space and be refined and expanded elsewhere. It is where teams meet, a place to unwind and relax, a place for a quick regroup or get work done. It performs multiple roles and is conceived to deliver the best human experience.
