The Northeastern region is one of the most beautiful parts of India, but the region has seen a series of ups and downs in the field of aviation in the recent past. Time after time Northeast underwent developmental changes in the field of aviation and its utilization. Even though almost all the states have a good number of aviation-related activities but a small dedicated passenger and cargo service is somehow still missing in the entire region which is meant for the common people and to operate on a reasonable rate so as to justify Government's slogan "Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik" which can be further classified as "Ude Har Rajya Ka Aam Naagrik".
It is worth mentioning that the North East of India was one of the most important sectors for the Allied Forces during the war session from 1940 to 1945. In between these years the allied powers have taken out various developmental projects in the region which initially was meant for their logistical support, but after the war those developments acted as a lifeline for the region and helped the region to connect itself with the other part of the country and further to the world.
Among all the developments, airstrips/airfields, railways and roadways were the prime constructions that boosted the region. Even today most of the airport or airfields in the region be it a civilian airport or defence airport or a civil enclave airport were created by the Allied forces during their stay in the region and serving the important China-Burma-India theater that was commonly known as the CBI Theater.
