The chaotic situation has created a chronic crisis of power and energy. Due to uncertain energy security, the economy is struggling, and industries are fighting for survival. The interim government after assuming office in an extraordinary situation after the fall of the previous government amid mass upsurge needs to implement urgent reforms in almost all sectors including energy. There are many issues and challenges – food security, industrial development, education, and Medicare facilities dependent on a smooth and assured energy supply. Destroying the basic fabric of self-reliant energy security, the previous government deliberately made energy generation increasingly reliant on imported fuel. Policies and plans need reviewing, institutions need restructuring, expenses need to be rationalized, and tariffs and prices need to be made affordable. At the same time, incidences of corruption need to be investigated. There are many issues and challenges. There will be resistance to changes and reforms.
