Sohum Shah is on cloud nine after Tumbbad's re-release, and with good reason. The film has outperformed other re-releases such as Rockstar and Veer Zaara. Despite this triumph, Sohum remains humble. "What more could I have asked for?" he says as we sit down in his office for this chat. "The biggest joy for me is that a lot of people have seen this film. Around 2.5 million people have watched it.
We broke all records for re-releases in India," he adds.
The underwhelming response the film received during its initial theatrical run always bothered the actor-producer. "I wasn't satisfied because I thought it deserved a lot of love, which it did not receive when it was released in 2018. It received love on OTT, but not in theatres. Our audiences had not evolved back then.
