EXPERTS have finally cracked the creepy case of who — or what — has been ripping the heads off dozens of innocent seal pups left to rot on California’s beaches — and are stunned to discover coyotes are the culprits!

Scientists and animal lovers have been horrified by the sea mammals’ seemingly senseless surfside slaughter for nearly a decade.

“It was so gruesome,” recalls Sarah Grimes of the Noyo Center for Marine Science in Mendocino County. “I was like marine mammal CSI, seeing all the dead pups with their heads torn off, and I’m like, ‘What the heck did that?’ ”

Grimes and others feared that barbaric humans were decapitating the cute creatures.
