Opening up about the royal family’s love of competitive sport, the Prince and Princess of Wales joined the Princess Royal for a special appearance on Mike Tindall’s podcast last week.
Prince William, Kate and Princess Anne appeared on The Good, The Bad & The Rugby to mark the start of the Rugby World Cup in France. And they shared plenty of laughter while recording the episode, which was released on the same day Kate cheered on England in Marseille, shortly before William did the same for Wales in Bordeaux.
The royal trio sat opposite Mike and his co-hosts Alex Payne and James Haskell in the Green Drawing Room at Windsor Castle, in their roles as royal patrons of England Rugby (Kate), the Welsh Rugby Union (William) and the Scottish Rugby Union (Anne).
And the relaxed family relationship made for an entertaining chat, with much teasing on both sides. Here, we take you through the best bits.
ON BEING COMPETITIVE
Former England rugby union international Mike, who is Anne’s son-in-law, revealed just how competitive William and Kate really are. Addressing Kate, he said: “I’m not going to say you’re uber-competitive…”.
Turning to co-hosts Alex and James, he said: “I’ve seen her play beer pong.”
The giggling Princess joked that she wasn’t competitive “at all”, saying: “I don’t know where this has come from.”
