Historic transplant man gets whole new look

THE world’s first whole-eye and partial-face transplant patient is finally ready to face the world! Despite long odds, Aaron James can smell again, eat solid foods again, and look at himself in the mirror without flinching just a year after his history-making surgery.

James, a 47-year-old utility line worker from Arkansas, lost most of his mug in 2021 when — in a horrifying on-the-job accident — his face buzzed up against a 7,200-volt live wire.
