Surrounded by family and close friends, EastEnders star James Bye and his wife Victoria renewed their wedding vows in a romantic ceremony in St Lucia almost 11 years after first tying the knot.
The island holds a special place in their hearts because they honeymooned there following their April 2012 wedding - and they promised they would one day go back.
Despite several dramas in the run up to their big day - like James chipping a tooth on a waterslide and it raining on the morning of their renewal -, the day was as special as it was when they first wed all those years ago.
The couple had originally planned to renew their vows last April on their 10th anniversary, but due to the uncertainty around the pandemic, they pushed it back to this year. And the luxury venue chosen for their vow renewal - Windjammer Landing - had been on the cards for years.
James, 38, explains, "We went there on our honeymoon and we got the idea A to return because there were so many families. We thought, ‘If we’re lucky enough to have a family, we’d love to come back here one day.’ So when it was our 10-year anniversary, there was only one place we could think of going.
“We renewed our vows on 11 January – we wanted to renew them on a Wednesday because we originally got married on a Wednesday.”
Victoria, 40, adds, “Hilariously, we had some fans made to keep our guests cool and they all said 2022 on them!”
