From those iconic granny pants to her bumbling attempts at finding romance, Bridget Jones is one of literature’s most popular singletons. And now, Renée Zellweger is set to step back into Bridget’s shoes for a fourth instalment of the romcom movie franchise.
The Texan actress became a household name in the UK after taking on the unlucky-in-love role for the 2001 film adaptation of Helen Fielding’s best-selling 1996 novel, Bridget Jones’s Diary.
More than two decades after Helen’s heroine first hit the silver screen, and Renée’s convincing English accent won the nation’s approval, the fourth movie is set to begin filming in London in May.
Renée is reported to be looking for a London property to live in while filming the new release, which is based on Helen’s 2013 novel, Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy. The book explores Bridget’s life as she raises two young children as a single mum and navigates the roller coaster of social media.
And as it’s been eight years since we last saw Bridget on screen in 2016’s Bridget Jones’s Baby, fans are very excited indeed about catching up with her latest exploits.
However, life also looks very different these days for Oscar-winning actress Renée, 54, who lives in California with her partner, Ant Anstead.
With an extended list of accolades and a reported net worth of $90 million, Renée has come a long way from the young actress who first took to the helm of the Bridget Jones franchise. Rising to prominence after bagging a role alongside Tom Cruise in the 1996 hit Jerry Maguire, she was a surprise choice to many when she was cast as the lead in Bridget Jones’s Diary.
