It wasn’t going to be an easy week for the royal family with Harry and Meghan’s much-hyped Netflix documentary hitting our screens, but Camilla got into the Christmas spirit as she enjoyed a visit from Santa and his reindeer at Clarence House last week.
She also decorated a tree with festive trinkets in the library of the London residence – with a bit of help from her young guests. Camilla was joined by children supported by Helen and Douglas House and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, who watched in awe as the doors swung open to reveal the beautiful tree.
“It’s always a treat for me to start the Christmas season here. It literally kicks it off for us,” said Camilla, who was hosting her annual festive event for the first time in her new role as Queen Consort.
With King Charles attending a Christmas carol concert later that day, Camilla’s equerry Captain Ed Andersen, dressed in bearskin and full Guards uniform, was on hand to help and at one point he used his sword to hoist baubles up on the towering tree.
