Last week, Colin Farrell received a Golden Globe award for Best Actor In A Comedy Or Musical for his part in dark comedy-drama The Banshees Of Inisherin. And the accolades don’t stop there, as the Dublin-
born star, 46, was also recently honoured with the Desert Palm Achievement Award at the annual Palm Springs International Film Festival in California.
Colin dominated the 2022 film world with critically acclaimed hits including The Batman and Thirteen Lives, so it’s no surprise he’s now one of the frontrunners in this year’s Oscar race for Best Actor, too.
In Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees Of Inisherin, Colin plays Pádraic Súilleabháin, a simple Irish man who is left utterly devastated and confused when his best friend Colm – played by Brendan Gleeson – unexpectedly ends their lifelong friendship.
But in reality, Colin – who worked with both Martin and Brendan in the 2008 Oscar-nominated film In Bruges – still has a group of close friends from his childhood and says that although he doesn’t see them as often as he’d like when they reunite it’s like no time has passed.
He reveals, “I have a couple of friends that I’ve known since I was born. Literally from around the corner. And then, the majority of my old friends from home in Dublin are people that I’ve been pals with since I was 14 or so – and we’re all still in each other’s lives. They are friendships that don’t need to be constantly watered, you know?
