On May 25, Britney Spears revealed she’d reunited with her mom, Lynne, after three years of estrangement. “My sweet mama showed up at my doorstep yesterday,” wrote Spears, alongside a throwback photo of herself as a little girl. “With family there’s always things that need to be worked out,” the pop star added, “but time heals all wounds. I feel so blessed we were able to try to make things right.”
Fans were thrilled to see the star happy. Spears, 41, has been navigating life on her own since her 13-year conservatorship ended in November 2021. It’s been a series of highs, including marrying aspiring actor Sam Asghari, 29, and lows (back in February, it was reported her inner circle had unsuccessfully planned an intervention over her erratic behavior). Now sources say she’s in a good headspace. “There have been some bumps in the road for Britney, but that’s to be expected,” says a source. “She’s feeling really positive about things, and she’s hopeful about the future.”
MENDING FENCES
Spears’ meeting with her mom appears to be a big step in the right direction. According to a second source, Lynne’s visit was unexpected. “Britney didn’t know her mother was coming into town,” shares the source, noting that Spears’ team actually helped coordinate things. “Britney’s team wanted it to be a surprise because they didn’t want Britney to say no.”
