Taylor Swift has always been a star who puts her fans first - but the singer faced one of the most difficult decisions of her career on Aug. 7 after an Eras Tour terror plot was uncovered, ultimately forcing her to cancel three sold-out shows in the Austrian capital of Vienna, leaving concertgoers heartbroken and concerned.
"Everyone in our hostel is shell-shocked," one fan who flew in for the event tells Us, while a second fan adds that the lobby of her hotel was full of women in Swift-themed outfits "just standing around staring at each other in a state of total shock."
Ultimately, the Grammy winner, 34, knows that the price they might have paid if the worst had happened puts all this into perspective. While the main suspect, a 19-year-old who had been radicalized online and pledged allegiance to IS the Islamic State group that reportedly believe women should conform to traditional roles and have a history of mistreatment toward them plotting the potential mass casualty attack, Swift and authorities could not take any risks.
(According to reports, the teen confessed was quickly arrested for that he planned to kill himself and fans using explosives and knives. Authorities also noted that two other suspects who knew about the plan were detained as well.) The Eras concerts are among the most-high-profile events in any country.
