A STOLEN MOBILE PHONE LED TO A SINISTER DISCOVERY
CAUGHT ON CAMERA

Valerie Casler was a homeless sex worker living in Anchorage, Alaska, in 2019 when South African immigrant Brian Smith picked her up in his truck. When he stopped at a Shell petrol station to grab some cash for her, Casler stole his phone and fled, hoping she could trade it for food or drugs. But later, when she looked through the mobile, Casler found 39 photos and 12 videos of a woman being tortured, taunted and killed.

“In my movies, everybody always dies,” states a voice narrating the video. “What are my followers going to think of me? People need to know when they are being serial-killed.”

The footage was so shocking, she knew she needed to turn it over to the police, despite her own petty theft.
