During an otherwise quiet and uneventful morning in 1977, the peace on Melbourne’s Easey Street was shattered when housemates Susan Bartlett and Suzanne Armstrong were found stabbed to death inside their home. Tucked away in one of the bedrooms, Suzanne’s 16-monthold son Gregory lay in his cot, distressed and dehydrated, but otherwise unharmed. Forty-seven years later, the brutal double murder remains unsolved.
“How long do they need to wait for justice?” asks journalist Helen Thomas, who has released a podcast Easey Street Murders, which looks into the killings. The “two Sues” were childhood friends from Benalla, who shared a house in the inner city suburb of Collingwood after Suzanne moved back from Greece with her young son.
