LAST CALL KILLER

In the early ’90s, New York was a very different place than it is today for the city’s queer community. As the death toll rose due to the AIDS crisis, so did the number of hate crimes. The last safe refuges were the gay bars – until a vicious serial killer started using them to hunt for prey.

Between 1991 and 1993, four gay and bisexual men went missing following nights out on the town. When 54-year-old Peter Stickney Anderson’s remains were found in a trash barrel on May 5, 1991, after he was last seen alive the evening before at the Townhouse Bar in Midtown Manhattan, police wouldn’t publicly identify a suspect in his murder for a decade.
