The benefits of owning a lush linen set can seem endless (hypoallergenic, durable and antibacterial, just to name a few), but if you’re splashing out a bit of cash on a quality set, it’s important to know how to take care of the natural fibre. Lauren Roe, creative director of I Love Linen, shares her expertise on how to properly care for linen and make sure your bedding lasts the distance.
1. AVOID USING FABRIC SOFTENERS
“Fabric softener often leaves a coating on fabrics, reducing breathability and absorbency. Linen is known for its moisture-wicking abilities so dulling this natural talent is counterintuitive. On top of this, the coating left by fabric softener can reduce your linen’s lifespan by breaking down the fabric over time. Linen naturally gets softer with every wash, so there’s no reason to potentially damage your fabric’s natural abilities by adding a fabric softener.”
2. BE WARY OF BLEACHING AGENTS
