MIND THE GAP

You’ve already heard about the gender pay gap, the health gap and the housework gap. There’s even the pocket gap in clothes, which explains why women are always juggling their keys with their phone. Until now, you may not have heard about the gender exercise gap, but new findings from the ASICS State of Mind study have highlighted just how many women are affected by it.

Globally, women get an average of 40 minutes less exercise per week than men, but the numbers are even worse for Aussies. “Women in Australia are exercising 60 minutes per week less than men,” cricket star and ASICS representative Alyssa Healy says. “As a result they are potentially missing out on the positive mental and physical benefits that exercise brings.”
