We first met Sienna Miller as a bright-eyed and breathtakingly beautiful 21-year-old in the 2004 films Layer Cake and Alfie. But it was her romance with her co-star Jude Law in the latter that catapulted her from little-known darling to fashion’s It girl overnight.

She rivalled Kate Moss when it came to Glastonbury’s fashions on the field, and became an instant muse for designers like Chanel and Burberry, and editors at Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar too. If you’re a millennial, there’s no doubt Miller was one of your style icons.

Born in New York and raised in London by her mother Josephine, a former model, the 41-year-old actress’ life was rich in fashion, culture and art. Her father Edwin was a banker-turned-art dealer.

Once Miller hit the big time, the general public knew her more for her relationship than her talents. Awash with scandal – like the time Law cheated on her with his children’s nanny – Miller had to prove she was more than just someone’s arm candy, a party girl and a model. This was all around the same time her films Casanova and Factory Girl hit cinemas.

“Life was so out of control. It’s a miracle that I actually retained a career and a life,” she told Vogue. “There are some things I regret, because I wish I’d been more protected.”
