2013 was a great year for iOS users. That’s when Apple introduced iOS 7, one of the biggest and most welcome redesigns of iOS in Apple’s history.

It solved all kinds of iOS irritations and introduced one of our very favourite features: Control Centre. The first version was pretty good, but over time it became even better and more useful.

Control Centre is designed to make it fast and easy to access key settings without having to venture into the depths of the Settings app. At first it only concentrated on your device’s settings, such as Bluetooth, Do Not Disturb or brightness. But over time Control Centre grew to include more features including smart home controls, sleep tracking and Shazam song recognition. Those last two arrived in iOS/iPadOS 14, and Apple added Focus options in iOS 15.
