THE H7 SERIES is a newly revised lineup of mid-tower cases from NZXT, with the H7 Elite at the top of the tree. Below it sits the H7 flow and the standard H7, both coming in at just below $130. It’s no great shock that NZXT knows how to make a good-looking PC chassis, and these three cases don’t buck the trend. NZXT claims the series has been created with the aim of being easy to build in, with plenty of interior space and versatility. However, the H7 Elite model we have on test is the one with all the bells and whistles. So, is it worth splashing out an extra $70 for the Elite over the Flow, or indeed the Standard version?
All three cases have a similar design, but the H7 Elite is the cleanest with a front tempered glass panel that shows off the three pre-installed 140mm F series RGB fans. Our matte black offering benefits from having the glass panel at the front as the RGB light bounces off the glass from all angles. If you fill your case with the same fans, this should provide you with an even flow of color throughout. However, the glass front panel is more for show. If you’re after the best PC performance, opting for the perforated front panel from the Flow option would make more sense.
Opening this case requires no tools, which is always a bonus. The panels easily pop off with a pull and lift motion, making it a breeze to get in and out of. Take care though, as you now have to worry about breaking two glass panels with the H7, rather than one. If the worst did happen though, you’d at least have better airflow. Talking of which, there is a side vent on the back to allow air into the case as air cannot travel through the glass.
