A big hit on both sides of the Atlantic, modern-day western Yellowstone has charted the trials and tribulations of Montana rancher John Dutton III, played by Kevin Costner, across five seasons, as he battles various threats to the land and Yellowstone ranch that have been in his family for generations.

Now, a second prequel series, 1923, will follow the fortunes of John’s ancestors, Jacob and Cara Dutton (Harrison Ford and Dame Helen Mirren), as they negotiate Prohibition, drought, and the Great Depression in the 1920s.

The first prequel spin-off, 1883, told the story of how James and Margaret Dutton first brought their family from Texas to settle in Yellowstone territory.
