Creepy landlords slayed Santas and unwanted in-laws… Terry and Gemma’s Christmas getaway is the gift that keeps on giving in a festive special of Murder, They Hope.

Arriving at a quaint but mysterious village, sleuths Gemma (Sian Gibson) and Terry (Johnny Vegas) are excited about spending their first Christmas together as a married couple. But after meeting the eccentric locals – played by guest stars including Jane Horrocks, Anita Dobson and Martin Kemp – events take a dark turn as the Santas due to take part in the annual seasonal parade are bumped off one by one. Terry’s day is also ruined when some surprise guests rock up – namely Gemma’s man-eating mother Patricia (Sherrie Hewson), plus Gemma’s obnoxious sister Monica, played by Miranda star Sarah Hadland.
