Extraordinary Portraits
Mon, 8.30pm (times vary), BBC1
Comedian Bill Bailey takes over presenting duties from previous host Tinie Tempah for the new series of Extraordinary Portraits, in which people with remarkable stories sit for talented artists.
This time, the extraordinary subjects of the portraits all work for the NHS, and first up is inspirational trauma surgeon Martin Griffiths, who is rendered in clay by sculptor Nick Elphick.
The theme of the series, which also features a nurse, a paramedic, a porter and a cleaner, has been chosen to mark the 75th anniversary of the NHS, to which Bailey has a personal connection.
