The new year is set to begin with a bang on BBC1 as Jamie Dornan’s action drama The Tourist returns for a much-anticipated second series with a different backdrop, dangerous new adversaries and a fresh web of deadly intrigue.

One of the most-watched British dramas of 2022, the first instalment saw Jamie’s mysterious character The Man wake up in an Australian hospital with amnesia following a car crash, only to then be pursued across the outback by people determined to kill him.

With the help of local police officer Helen Chambers (Danielle Macdonald), he managed to escape with his life and discovered that he was called Elliot Stanley. But he was shocked to learn he’d been part of a drug-smuggling operation before his accident.

As the new six-part run begins, Elliot has found romance with Helen, and the pair decide to travel to Ireland in a bid to retrace his roots. But they quickly become caught up in a crossfire between a menacing crime family, the McDonnells, and a rival clan, the Cassidys.
