Given his horrific treatment of Lauren and many other vulnerable young girls, the residents of Weatherfield would no doubt be more than happy to see the back of Joel Deering. But no one is prepared for Lisa's revelation this week that it seems the disgraced solicitor has taken his own life.
A voicemail from Joel on Dee-Dee's phone is the first clue to suggest he's made a drastic decision. Lisa believes that it's a suicide note, and with a bit of police know-how, Kit is then able to use the message to pinpoint Joel's last whereabouts.
Driving to the area, he finds Joel's car abandoned on a bridge, with a note on the dashboard. It all looks very eerie, and Lisa then breaks the news that a search is on for Joel's body.
