LIKE many kids his age, he enjoys reading books in the Harry Potter and Sherlock Holmes series and watching cricket and football.
But what sets him apart from other 13-year-olds is his ability to solve complex maths equations without a pen or a calculator.
In fact, Aaryan Shukla is so good with numbers he recently earned a Guinness World Record for the fastest time to mentally add 50 five-digit numbers.
Aaryan performed the astonishing feat of calculation on Lo Show dei Record, an Italian TV show showcasing people attempting to break various records.
As he stood on stage looking at a large screen, all 50 numbers flashed before his eyes one after the other so quickly the average audience member couldn’t even process each one before it disappeared and was replaced by the next.
After the last number appeared, Aaryan took a few seconds – 25,19 to be exact – to finish his mental calculation before coming up with the correct answer in front of the stunned crowd.
His achievement: one calculation every 0.5 seconds.
