Fresh guac, a good ol’ shot of tequila, Frida Kahlo – paints a picture, doesn’t it? The fifth largest country of the Americas is home to a lot more than what these three keywords can tell you. A cultural revolution in itself, Mexico City’s landscape is as grand as its spirit – and if you look closely, beyond its surrounding mountains is a story that many are familiar with, but need to hear on a deeper level. To share this narrative, Mexican native Aleph Molinari, an editor, writer, art director and photographer, along with Anfisa Vrubel, an editor, writer, and researcher whose work focuses on the intersection of art, culture, and politics, have published a tell-all coffee table book to introduce the world to the details of the city’s cultural and cinematic landscape, and to celebrate its rich history that dates all the way back to the fourteenth century.
