In a world filled with crazy schedules and constant demands, exploring new horizons is essential in nurturing our well-being and resetting our creative engines. Take Yves Saint Laurent, for example. The late great designer would spend his days sketching and drawing - inspiration for his works during his wondrous trips to Morocco. And then, there's Kim Jones, Dior Men's artistic director, who spent most of his childhood in Kenya, and visits the country and its regional areas ever so often to seek both inspiration and tranquillity. Meanwhile, Pharrell Williams, whose numerous business and creative ventures include The Goodtime Hotel, a seven-storey property he co-owns in Miami, has shared that he enjoys taking a break from his busy timetable at the Aman resorts in the Caribbean.
And closer to home, footwear designer, Firdaos Pidau, model, Srri Ramm, and illustrator, Kenneth Seow, share more about why it is important for creatives to escape, what they never travel without, and more.
Srri Ramm, 22
Whether it's travelling for work or leisure, making connections and immersing in new cultures is the order of the day for this model on the rise.
What has been your favourite travel experience so far and how do you usually unwind while hopping from city to city?
About two years ago, I was sent to France for placement. It was there that I gained a fresh perspective on life, realising that I can do anything as long as I set my mind to it. I had no choice but to push myself out of my comfort zone, and I really enjoyed immersing myself in a different culture, making new friends while I was at it. It truly felt like an awakening. My self-care ritual while travelling is fairly simple - take a nice cold shower, slap on a face mask, go through my standard skincare routine and cosy up with a movie.
