When we asked about her hardships, "The hardest part about where I am from is many do not support you unless you are already famous or go somewhere else and become a big name and move back to the city." Starting off with that intriguing name of yours, who chose this name for you, and is there any story behind it?
I chose the name of my two favourite things. Growing up I was always obsessed with Paris, France, and the brand Chanel. I wanted to create an alter ego for my modelling career to separate it from my corporate career. I had no clue that I would wind up owing my own modelling and talent agency formerly named The Paris Chanel Agency. When the agency began to thrive, Paris Chanel became my official identity. I spoke with my mom to make sure that she was okay with me changing my name, and as always, she was highly supportive. The next day she drew up my legal documents, walked me in front of the judge, and my name was legally changed to Paris S. Chanel. The funny thing is no one ever called me by my birth name anyway, not even my family. It was a great decision and sounds better in the fashion sector anyway.
As an African American fashion and luxury influencer, how do you strive to be an impactful and empowering voice for others?
I want others like me to be able to see that their dreams are attainable. Being an aspirational figure is something that I have always strived to be. It is not so common to see African-American influencers thriving in the luxury fashion and travel sector. Being one of the women to makes a difference and lead the pathway for others to come through and successfully thrive is a goal of mine. Being a part of events that have a great cause is next on my agenda.
