It was an extraordinary feat in the annals of wildlife conservation, executed under the aegis of the conservation NGO African Parks, whose president Harry became soon afterward. "Look at them," he told me one evening over beers, referring admiringly to the conservation foot soldiers in the camp. "No matter what happens, how tricky the situation is, they just keep pushing."
