To this writer, conditions appear to have steadily worsened at least in her native country. Yet appearances might be deceptive, which is her great hope in this case. But dishonesty, mental shallowness, misleading language, tiger capitalism, social injustice, and ever new ideas just for newness' or profit's sake have seen to widening gaps between those who earn and possess tremendously and those who suffer under inflationary price rises, even for staple foods, and who get stuffed with slogans and advertising posters.
After initial jubilation over the reunification of the two Germanys - one functioning under a capitalistic ideology, the other under a communistic one- and the eventual fall of the whole Soviet Union, the then hope of reconciliation between opposing systems and a world-wide more peaceful future seems to have given way to much political enmity throughout nations again.
But how can it be then that the great Yogi once said that a spiritual wave was approaching even in our times such as there had never been one before? If remembered right, he said this almost forty years ago. But since then, this writer has often felt agitated because of noticing deteriorations in so many external fields as well as much falseness and coldheartedness in human relationships.
