The Vagus Nerve is the body's superpower and it is used to counteract your fight-and-flight system.
There is a "calm-down" channel running through our body that we can switch on when we need to relax and be at inner peace. If you are ready to beat your stress, irritation and activate your inner calm, there is a magic nerve in your body you should tap into. This magic nerve is called the vagus nerve.
The vagus nerve facilitates communication between the brain, heart, gut and the immune system. This nerve is long and wanders throughout the body starting from the Medulla Oblongata of the brainstem and then reaching every organ of the body and muscles. Some people have a stronger vagus nerve activity than others which allows their bodies to relax and be calm very fast after a stressful event. The strength of the vagus nerve response is known as the vagus tone which contributes to the resilience to any stressors.
