Positioned high above Sydney’s inner west, with sweeping views of both the city and the Blue Mountains, this recently renovated unit challenges any apartment-living narrative that speaks of cramped spaces, compromised functionality and a cookie-cutter aesthetic. Kay Veitch and Alexandra Moody’s three-bedroom home is comfortable, delightfully colourful, and a true reflection of a busy urban life. Global travellers through and through, the couple have stamped their home with bold individuality and a shared love of world cultures.
Kay and Alexandra bought the property in 2016 and rented it out until they were ready to downsize in 2019. They had been living in a characterful 1870s five-bedroom house with a pool nearby, but admit they never really used all the space they enjoyed there. “It was important to us that this apartment was redesigned to maximise every inch,” Kay explains. “We also wanted to reduce the amount of maintenance we had to do,” adds Alexandra
The unit is located on the 15th floor of an apartment block built in 2009, an award-winning development that features resort-style facilities and pockets of green. “The unit itself had very good bones, but the major thing for us was maximising storage and updating the bathrooms and kitchen – the wet areas were already looking their age,” says Kay.
