1 HANG GIANT PAPER STARS
Liven up a blank wall with a cluster of oversized paper decorations in different sizes. Using the same shape, such as stars, but in slightly different variations will add extra interest - one of these stars has colourful tips, while another is a more intricate star shape, for example.
2 DOUBLE DRENCH WALLS
You've probably noticed the trend for colour drenching by now, which can give a room a cosy, cocooning effect. Instead of painting walls and woodwork in exactly the same colour, you could try using similar shades. For example, if your walls are mid green, why not paint your ceiling in a darker green shade - and then use a lighter one for the woodwork?
3 See in the New Year by putting out cheery party decorations, from metallic balloons to a banner, glitzy napkins and sparklers.
4 SHOW OFF DRINKS IN STYLE
Treat yourself to a decanter that you'll be proud to have on display. Set it on a mirrored tray with a glass or two, all ready to pour when you want to celebrate.
5 HOW TO A FABRIC GARLAND MAKE
Updating your festive table decor? Recycle unwanted fabrics this way
Gather a few different fabrics in your chosen colours and patterns (four to five is usually sufficient) and cut them into strips, around 50cm in length and 4cm in width (shorter if you'd prefer to make a smaller garland).
Assemble the strips in the order that you'd like them to hang. Next, take a length of string or wire and cut to the length you want your garland to be, allowing extra for the ends if you're going to loop or tie them to secure.
Fold your first fabric strip in half, then slip the folded end under your string.
