
HIDDEN DEPTH
Casa Yugen is named after a concept in Japanese aesthetics - one that can't be directly translated but can mean, roughly, a sense of depth, profundity and abstraction. Studio Gabriel Bordin embraced it in this project, a residential home in Florianópolis, Brazil, through a curved wall that at first hides and then reveals the social space beyond. The dark walls, too, frame the lighter elements the windows, the Rubens Oestroem painting, the furniture around them.
