Over the past few years, smaller tiles have given way to large-format tiles in homes, creating a greater sense of spaciousness and a more hygienic environment. “Larger tiles are amazing in a bathroom, but if you’re clever about it, they can work wonders in any space,” says Dani Martins, marketing lead for SHF Living. “The smooth, uninterrupted look of these beauties adds an instant dramatic flair to any room, making them a highly impactful choice for modern homes.”
“Large tiles create fewer grout lines, which means they are easier to clean and there is less space for bacteria to occupy,” says Amadea Oberholzer, sales consultant and designer at Lifestyle Ceramics. “They create a sense of openness because of their size and showcase the design with fewer breaks.”
Larger tiles can also make smaller spaces appear bigger because their streamlined look creates an illusion of more space as the eyes are not focused on so many grout lines.
