The British Club Singapore
Members: Jeremy (British-Singaporean) and Jennifer Ward (Australian) Children: Charlotte (5), Lily (3) and Noah (1)
Jennifer bought a family membership to the British Club for my 40th birthday, which happened during the COVID lockdowns. The Club was the perfect "getaway" during that challenging time when we couldn't leave the country. Fast forward a few years later and we are still loving it; it's perfect for our young family.
I'm a lawyer from the UK with a British father and Singaporean mother and am a massive Liverpool fan. Jenn, originally from Melbourne, was initially unsure about joining the British Club. However, with its wonderfully diverse and multinational community, she quickly found her place and is now thoroughly enjoying being part of it! We met in Singapore nine years ago and all three kids were born here. Charlotte and Lily both learnt how to swim at the British Club under the excellent tutelage of Coach Sharon.
We are hoping that little Noah follows suit in due course! We love the pool and the playroom for the kids. It gives a chance for the adults to enjoy some frozen margaritas, which always makes me feel like I'm on a micro-break from the hustle and bustle of city life! The girls always retreat to the playroom for colouring after meals. They also love the Little Chef sessions, which both grandmas have been fortunate enough to accompany.
They brought home the most delicious brownies! While our favourite food from the British Club is curry, for us, the pizza is perfectly made and always a hit with the whole family with its gooey cheese and just the right amount of crust. Jenn says char kway teow, because the "wok hei" is on point! Over the years, we've enjoyed many events like Singapore National Day, Halloween and Christmas Day luncheons, which are now our annual traditions.
