AUSTRALIA'S DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CRISIS ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

The alleged murder of yet another woman has renewed nationwide calls for the scourge of violence against females in Australia to be addressed once and for all.

On April 5, Hannah McGuire’s body was discovered in a burnt-out car near a national park outside of Ballarat, VIC. Just 23 years old, she had been reported missing by her family only hours earlier.

“Our hearts are broken,” Hannah’s devastated family said in an online post. “You weren’t just a star to us. You were our whole damn sky. Miss you, princess!”

Her ex-partner has been charged with her murder. Police allege the 21-yearold man killed Hannah before driving to the remote location in Scarsdale. He dumped the car and set it on fire. He will front court in September.

Women’s safety experts are warning that more research is needed to examine the links between arson, burn injuries and domestic violence deaths.

“Some domestic violence deaths are predictable and preventable,” Betty Taylor, the founder of Queensland's Red Rose Foundation, tells New Idea.
