In recent months, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a hot topic, from how it will affect our jobs, to the ramifications of computer-generated images and fabricated interviews infiltrating popular media.
This discussion was thrust into the spotlight last week when German magazine Die Aktuelle claimed on its cover it had the “first interview” with Michael Schumacher. The seven-time F1 world champion hasn’t been seen in public since suffering a serious brain injury while skiing in 2013.
Inside, it was revealed that 54-year-old Schumacher had not spoken to a journalist, but the “quotes” about his health and family were generated by the AI program character.ai.
Thanks to this concerning report, the use of AI has quickly become a subject of debate – but what many people may not know is it has already been in use to improve our lives for years.
