When it came to movie reviews, Australians used to hang off every word Margaret Pomeranz and David Stratton had to say. And boy did the film critics like to speak their minds especially if it meant getting a rise out of the other! "We're very different personalities," Margaret says.

"He is measured, ordered, and extremely meticulous. I mean he has notes from the first movie he ever saw at six years of age or something incredible! "He has this knowledge that is amazing. I think he is so enormously valuable to this country. Apart from anything else, he's a really good friend." At the end of last year, David, 84, retired from his job teaching World Cinema at the University of Sydney's Centre for Continuing Education.
