A NEW ERA IS DAWNING AT SUN HILL POLICE STATION 500

When it comes to iconic cop shows, The Bill would have to be the most arresting. In fact, it's a television institution, with one of the most memorable theme songs in history.

It's hard to believe it's 40 years since the comings and goings of a fictional London police station, Sun Hill, had us all happily handcuffed to our TV sets.

Running for a whopping 26 years from 1984 until 2010, The Bill often outrated much-loved TV stalwarts such as the seemingly unbeatable Eastenders and Coronation Street. At its peak, The Bill had a staggering 10 million viewers in the UK alone.

The Bill was particularly popular with Australian audiences, so much so, the series came Down Under to film episodes here in the 1990s. Local golden boy Daniel MacPherson was later recruited to the cast, starring from 2003 to 2004.
