LA DEVA VITA

Just as she does on screen and on the runway, Deva Cassel exudes a quiet magnetism on set. While her brown, typically wild curls have been smoothed out and put into an updo for her Tatler cover shoot, her signature strong brows, piercing hazel eyes and sculpted pout remain unmistakable. Even her name, Deva, or "heavenly" in Sanskrit, carries an air of quiet grace, one that she wields with instinctive ease.
Draped in the sculptural novelties of Cartier's Nature Sauvage high jewellery collection, Cassel moves gracefully through the suite in Paris Marriott Champs Elysees Hotel, where a balcony offers a perfect view of the Eiffel Tower. Her presence in front of the camera is both effortless and refined, marked by a confidence shaped by her early start in modelling and, more recently, acting.
We meet Cassel just a few days after the March 5 global release of the historical epic The Leopard, dubbed Netflix's "most ambitious Italian original to date" by entertainment publication Variety. Based on Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa's 1958 novel Il Gattopardo, the miniseries starring Cassel has received popular and critical acclaim, many praising its sweeping cinematography and meticulous period detail, drawing comparisons to The Crown for its grandeur and narrative depth.
Cassel has also been praised for her performance; but acting was never part of her plan. She initially resisted the idea, reluctant to carve out a space in a world already defined by her parents: Italian screen siren Monica Bellucci and the chameleonic French thespian Vincent Cassel, two of Europe's most celebrated actors who have also left a mark on Hollywood. Her links to the cinematic world run even deeper, as her late grandfather was Jean-Pierre Cassel, a popular star of French cinema who gained fame for his comedic roles before excelling in more dramatic ones.
