HIGHRISE OF INNOVATION

Located on IIT Roorkee's 365-acre campus, the Department of Architecture and Planning, started in 1956, imparts highquality education in the professional fields of architecture and planning. The architecture programme is known for its rigorous curriculum, which includes a blend of theoretical knowledge, skill development and practical knowhow. The curriculum aligns with the New Education Policy of India and ensures the overall career development of a student. The department is also at the forefront of integrating advanced technologies into its curriculum, offering cutting-edge specialisations, focusing on artificial intelligence, machine learning, building science and data analytics.

With facilities such as a climatology lab, computerised design studios equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and software, an art lab and a workshop, the department is much sought after. A prestigious lab on net zero emissions, set up under the INDO-UK programme, is the latest addition. There are six other labs besides-a virtual reality lab, SPARSH (spatial planning research), an urban dynamics lab, a civic design lab, an industrial design lab, a laboratory of inclusive design (LID), and an infrastructure planning lab to conduct high-end research in various spectra of architecture and planning.
