DEMCO-Opening Aluminium Doors with ALLUCO
Newsweek Europe|January 27, 2023
Tunisia's economy should grow by 3% in 2022, despite global uncertainty, according to the World Bank. Growth is expected to pick up in the medium term, as the advantages of this competitive economy with favourable access to the markets of the European Union and Africa assert themselves. Tunisia benefits from its participation in the EUROMED Partnership, a union that promotes economic integration with the EU. These strengths have supported the growth of the manufacturing industry, which grew at 8.1% in the year to September 2022, according to official figures. It is a sector that has had particular benefits from Tunisia's relationship with the EU.
DEMCO-Opening Aluminium Doors with ALLUCO

AIready a hugely successful textile business, Tunisian-Belgian Demco is now expanding Arapidly in the aluminium products market.

A solution provider for construction, Demco supplies major European brands such as Belgian outdoor living company Renson, and sells its own products on the Tunisian market through its brand ALLUCO. ALLUCO aims to serve a growing range of markets, as well as finding new bases for international exports and is exploring strategic partnerships, including in contract manufacturing.

"We provide high-quality solutions for buildings in aluminium," says Johnny De Meirsman, founder and CEO of Demco. "We are planning to grow out of Tunisia; we are looking to open offices in Europe and we're focusing on African markets including Egypt, Senegal, and Ivory Coast. "We're making deals to open showrooms with training centers (Alluco Academy) and manufacturing units to back them up. We want to be close to our customers." De Meirsman sees potential in Egypt for a first base out of Tunisia for sales & manufacturing as well as for the European market and Gulf countries, which are currently experiencing a construction boom.

Demco's textile business is similarly international and with its own portfolio of top-tier clients. It supplies renowned international brands including Tommy Hilfiger, Lee, Wrangler, Salsa Jeans, and Pepe Jeans, operating through two fully-integrated branches -jeanswear and knitwear.
