Without critical analysis we are as vulnerable as sheep

Illiteracy in the age of covid

DISTRIBUTING The Light newspaper in the West Yorkshire town where I live, I've met all kinds of people these past three years.

Reactions to my efforts have varied from the early days of having some of them thrown in my face to the present, whereby most of my 'regulars' look forward to the monthly issue.

This work has given me a perspective and insight into a cross-section of humanity that without the covid nonsense, I would never have experienced.

Those of us who try to understand what has happened are bamboozled as to how the vast majority of folk have succumbed to the blandishments of ultra-rich, powerful people who are forging ahead in using the lightning progress of technology to assist them in a drive towards a transhuman future.

We analyse how it has happened by coming to the conclusion that mass hypnosis, propaganda, engendering fear, the madness of crowds and downright stupidity are the reasons, but is this the entire picture?

The current state of world affairs is hard to comprehend for any sensible person who, hitherto, thought politicians looked out for our best interests; that the pharmaceutical industry was a Godsend in advances and miracle cures; and of course, those of us who thought that having a defence industry to protect us from aggressor nations was a commonsense given.

It never occurred to most of us that we ourselves might be an aggressor nation and the whole military-industrial complex was a self-perpetuating entity which required constant conflict in order to thrive and make its trillions.
