This would be a great thing for the game if I was talking about the matches played by our senior clubs and our international side, but sadly I’m not. Most of the actual matches in the Premiership this season didn’t seem like true competitions, with cricket scores being the norm for one side or the other and sometimes both, with no real meaning to any matches except those that were played in Europe.
This may have been as a result of the loss of two clubs through financial mismanagement or just the fact that the ring-fence took away the meaning of any results, once the clubs’ usual annual league positions were achieved.
