Brown field policy revised, Guj to get 7 new med colleges

The health infrastructure in the state is all set to get a boost. The state government has revised its policy for brown field medical colleges, under which seven new institutes will be established. Currently, brown field medical colleges are operational in five districts: Banaskantha-Palanpur, Amreli, Dahod, Bharuch, and Tapi-Vyara.

The state government had introduced the policy in 2016 to open medical colleges affiliated to hospitals by upgrading existing government hospitals. With the policy revision, new brown field medical colleges will be started in seven additional districts: Botad, Devbhoomi-Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Kheda-Nadiad, Chhota Udepur, Mahisagar-Lunawada, and Dang-Ahwa.
