Cybercriminals have unleashed a wave of attacks across Gujarat and India, with Gujaratis losing a massive Rs 1,288 crore to online frauds between January 1 and December 15, 2024. To combat this menace, Gujarat government officials have begun using cybercrime awareness messages as their mobile caller tunes. Digital arrest scams and investment frauds accounted for most losses.
Gujarat police data reveals that the state's losses constitute roughly 12% of the national total, where cybercriminals swindled Rs 10,319 crore between April 2021 and December 2024.
