Fire safety gaps found in govt hospitals in Guj

The Game Zone Fire Tragedy of Rajkot exposed the poor fire safety measures across the state and now it has emerged that Gujarat's district and sub-district hospitals are no better either. A report by a government agency has found that over 50 hospitals, health centres, and medical colleges in the state lack a fire safety system with many district and sub-district hospitals lacking the mandatory No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the Fire Department.

The report also said that many of these hospitals have fire safety systems installed but they are nonfunctional while some have fire safety installation and maintenance work pending.
